MICHAEL WALSH RETURNS FOR VERY SPECIAL REASON

The man with the incredible record of 12 fights 12 wins and 12 KO's

Michael Walsh makes a comeback after a 4 year hiatus and for a very special reason.

Im doing this for my little boy says an emtionally charged Walsh. He is my little soldier  and I worry about him every minute of every day.

18 months ago Michael and his lovely wife Laura were expecting a new member of the ever growing Walsh Clan but unfortunately joy turned to saddness and worry.  Baby Liam (Named after his famous fighting Uncle) was born with a heart just 20%in size of a heart  and weighed just 700grams I could put him in the palm of my hand said Michael as remember back to those days 18 months ago.

Born into a fighting family young Liam showed all the traits of his famous father and Uncles the  British Champions Ryan and of course his namesake Liam.  He has endured 7 heart operation and will have one more shortly all in his short life of 18 months and against all the odds has bravely come through them all and whilst not out of danger by any means he is in a much better place today than 18 months ago such is the fighting spirit that exists within him.

Liam is in my thoughts every single moment as he battles through this to see the progress he has made is unbeleivable said Micahel.

Little Liam has endured months of uncertainty as he was treated first at Norwich Childrens hospital followed by months at Great Ormond Street where he diead for 43 minutes until thankfully the staff brought him back..  All we could do was to be there wait, hope and pray says Michael, the elder of the Walsh Brothers. The complex charter that is Michael Walsh could not bear to be far from his sons side, so decided he would camp out in the park nearby for days on end until he could bring his son home.  So he purchased a tent and did just that, but typical of Michael he also showed his caring side when he would rise go to the supermarket and then proceed to feed the homeless around the area.An incredible act from and incredible man.

THE RETURN

Waslh make an emotional return to the ring in December

Through this very worrying time Walsh's thoughts turned to what he could do for the incfedible medical staff of both hospitals who, quite literally, gave him back the life of his son. Quitely he began to go back into the familiar surroundings of the boxing gym a place where he has always found an inner peace, friendship and discipline.  He began to do more and more and his famous coach Graham Everett was on hand as he always is to over words of advice and encouragement.

It was not long before Walsh's mind went into overtime and a return to the ring was from that moment on inevitable!  His only thought was to return to the ring and rasie some money the only way he knows how for the people who gave the cherished life of his son back.

He could have taken the easy route and retunred through one of the various "Charity Boxing" events but that was not for the purist, Michael.  If he was going to do it he was going to do it properly as he always has done by training hard and giving 200%.  But of course getting fit was by nomeans the only obsticle in his path to a ring return, he had to persuade the British Boxing Board of Control that after four long years out of the ring he was still able to compete on a professional level.

Typical of the man he threw himself headfirst into his training and after some consultaion with the boxing Board was granted his licence back after a meeting in November 2019 and the stage was set for his return.  So elequently put by his trainer Graham Everett when he annouce "Watch out there is a hurrican on its way"  There is a bond between Graham and not only Michael but all the Walsh brothers and when Michael was at a lonely point in his life his brother having gone into camp in Tennerifeit was to Graham and the gym he turned and what a wise decission that was.  For Michael being in the gym gave him something to focus on and it was essential for his Mental health, happines and well being.  His long time mentor and friend on hand to encourage and guide him through those low moments.

A couple of months in the gym and he was itching to get in the ring and spar again, Everett said "Sparring isnt fghting we know but it is a good indicator into the state of mind of the boxer and Michael was so much more relaxed a maybe a little bit cuter.  He proved to me that he is ready for a return to the ring through his hard work and decdication, to be fair he has really impressed.

Walsh with an ABA ttle 11 professional fights with 11 KO wins just want to fight again and now he has a great reason to do so to raise funds for those that gave him his son's life back.  Micahel is a complexed character camping out to be close to his son, feeding the homless  shows he is a really good person and just wants to now give something back to the people that helped him when he most needed it.

DECEMBER 16th

Holiday Inn North, Norwich

Family is everything to the Michael and his brothers instilled by their father so long ago it is something they have never forgotten nor waivered from.  Ryan wears the insignia on his ring gear "Familia supra omnia" - Family above all others   Together they have built their own houses next to each other, Michael says I gave up professional boxing and thought that was it so I could concentrate on getting the houses done and some shops another family business but it was something I rergret in one way as it felt like that was the end of it and the dream of being British Champoion was lost to me althought fair play to my two brother who did the family proud in both winning the british and being the first twins in history to hold and defned the title at the same time, even on the same bill in London!.

Michael says "At times I know I have been my own worse enemy and gone off the rails whilst Liam (Senior) and Ryan have been totally dedicated to the sport.  However I now have a very good reason to focus my mind on my comeback and make my little man as proud of me as I am of him he really s a true little fighter through all of this he has been unbeleivable and much braver then me.

This is not just a bit of fun to raise some money I could do that in a local hall on a Charity white collar show but that not what we are about I could'nt go down to that level. No if I am going to do this I am going to have a right go at it, one last big push to where I can get and hopefull get myself in line for a title, now that would be fantastic. I want give it a right good go, and if the British title came up I would grab the opportunity with boths hands to fulfil what my father had said years ago that we were all capable of be British Champions.Yes that would be the icing on the cake for me, that and making my little soldier proud.

When Micahel Walsh in this mood there is little to stop him, the hurricane is certainly on its way and god help anyhthing or anyone that stands in its path.  Now of the ripe old age of 35 this is certainly his last chance at professional boxing so he has to take all that positive energy from his experince and channel it into his boxing, do that and he can achieve a long time promise of becoming a british champion, and noone would bet against thatwith this man!.
