TOP AMATEUR SIGNS WITH SHAMROCK

Jahid Munim pens a management contract with Shamrock Management

Shamrock Boxing are proud and pleased to announce JAHID MUNIM signs with Shamrock Boxing's Mervyn Turner as well as basing himself at the Luton gym training for his comeback fight..  Following a very successful amateur career Jahid turned professional just before the Covid Lockdown and became one of the first British Bangladeshi boxers to turn professional in the UK and quickly got the obvious moniker of the Bengal Tiger!

Unfortunately things did not go as expected, whilst he did eventually make his debut this was after postponements and cancelled shows so he didn't have the best of luck as he started out on his professional career. This luck continued through lockdown when many fights were promised but for a variety of reasons never quite materialised.  Through the lack of inactivity and disappointment Jahid became both frustrated  and disillusioned with professional boxing and decided to take a complete break. After a while Jahid embarked on a new career in the Police force but always in the back of his mind he knew he would some day return to his first love of boxing so much so that he continue each year to pay to renew his licence and keep his medicals up to date.

Jahid then found that the Police had changed their policy of allowing officers to box professionally upon learning this he had some hard thinking and sole searching to do but it didn't take long before he made his mind up that he just couldn't walk away from the sport he loved so with the help of his family he decided to look for a new team and to make his way back to fitness and the squared circle.

He returned to his roots and his original amateur coach who was now himself a fully fledged professional coach and they hit it off straight away.  They decided to work together for a few weeks before making the final decision but it wasn't long before the bond they had years previous began to form again and there was no looking back.  Turner said "It was really a no brainer for me as the weeks passed we pushed him really really hard perhaps to see if he really wanted it again but he was very determined and stuck to the task.  He has a very supportive family and is help considerably by his father, also a well known figure in boxing these days, who provides the support which is needed but does not interfere in the day to day training or management.  I feel Jahid has grown in his time with us and will go on to achieved high accolades within the sport he has proved his dedication hard work and focus so there is no reason why not!

"I have returned home to Luton to train and am really loving it again. For sure its tough and Mervyn really puts us through our paces but I really feel I am training as a pro and alongside some amazing talent.  With the likes of Mihai Nistor hear you cant help to learn from everything running alongside him in the gym everything then when Andres Campas came to the gym training for his world title fight with Sunny Edwards it created a different buzz.  I cant wait now to get back in the ring which will be very soon I am sure"

Jahid will look to make his comeback in late September early October said Turner  "we are not rushing into it as he has plenty of time but I feel he will be more than ready then and this time around activity is the key, I am sure there are titles in this lad and cant wait to see it"

MIHAI NISTOR, Olympian, 2 x Euro Medalist and  2 x World Champion continues his professional career fighting for the first time in the UK,  The Roamania native has a remarkable record and also boxed in the WSB for 5 years years where he holds wins over such world level fighters such as Otto Wallin, Fillip Hrgovic, Erik Pheifer, Tony Yoka, Anthony Joshua, Frazer Clarke and, stepping in at 1 days notice,  current unified HW World Champion Oleksandr Usyk to name but a few!.

Nistor, became Ramanian national champion and held the title for a remarkable ten years and whilst on International duty became one of the most decorated amateurs on the International scene with a record of 157 fight and 138 wins a remarkable achievment at any weight but at Heavyweight is almost unheard of!

One of his proudest moment was when he stopped Erik Pheifer in the 9th round to become Romania's first Heavyweight World Champion. A very proud Romanian this meant everything to him to not only represent his country but to win the world title for his beloved Ramania meant everything to him.

Mihai loved the amateur sport and for this reason maybe stayed too long before turning professional when he did it was in America with Golden Boy promotions where he had 2 fights before covid struck an he returned to his family in there home town Iasi in the northern part of Romania. Deciding to stay in Europe he then change his management and training team setting his sights on a European and UKhe boxed in his home country for the next two fight and then travelled to Argentina to pick up another professional win taking his tally to 6 fights, 6 Wins, 6 Ko's within the paid ranks.

He now has his sights firmly fixed on the 2nd of September a fight where he has come down in weight to match the new WBC Bridger weight category.  "I want to win a WBC World Title for my country and at this weight it is perfect for me, of course I win all my title at Super Heavy but I see opportunities for me here. To take a WBC back to Romania would be a dream for me"

Based in Luton with his trainer Mervyn Turner Mihai is enjoying his second coming "I am really pleased and happy to be here in the UK and with my trainer in Luton.  The training is first class and I am again enjoying the gym he makes every day different and fun but all the professionals in the gym know when its time to work its head down and hard at it. I am loving my boxing again which is very important.  I want to show everybody what I can do in boxing.

September the 2nd promises to be a great show as always with Johnny Clarke's Top Tier promotions one of the best up and coming promoters in the UK who really puts a lot into his shows and has a clear vision as to where he wants to go.

It will certainly be exciting as Mihai has the style whereby he will either win by KO or get Ko'd there is no middle ground with this guy.
